Life & work
Learning and teaching
In her account of her musical beginnings, Namazi describes being born in Isfahan and growing up in Shiraz, with a father who played tar and setar. She dates the start of her formal music education to age seven; her subsequent training included classical piano, solfège and Western classical singing.1
Her teaching biography on Enzo Hekmat’s website gives a more specific account of her Persian vocal studies. She began studying avaz with Saeedeh Bozorgmanesh in 1395 SH, and studied Razavi Sarvestani’s vocal radif with Shayan and Majid Rouzitalab. The same biography says she began teaching that radif under Rouzitalab’s supervision in 1400 SH.4
Returning to earlier voices
Several recordings identify the earlier performances that Namazi and her collaborators revisited. For Avaz-e Homayoun, she sang with tar player Farid Forooghi, recreating an avaz by Younes Dardashti with Ebrahim Sarkhosh’s tar accompaniment. In the accompanying account, they explain that circumstances led them to record at home using a mobile phone.5
Her Avaz-E Bayat Esfahan, uploaded to SoundCloud in January 2021, draws on Razavi Sarvestani’s album Rang-e Farah.78 On the Nava recording, she revisits Abdolvahab Shahidi’s avaz from programme 408 of Yek Shakhe Gol, singing a poem by Ali Ashtari with Ahmad Parvaz on santur.9
Ensemble work and Descent
Namazi contributed backing vocals alongside Amir Hekmatkhah to Jaana Ensemble’s Baade Saba. Presented by Farhang Foundation as a tribute to Iran’s folk music, the film premiered on 20 December 2023.10
Descent, released in December 2024, brought her voice together with Milad Dezfoulian’s composition and tanbur and Jahandar Sheybani’s electronic design. Its lyrics are credited to Saghir Esfahani.1112
Songs with Arash Fathi and Ehsan Haeri
In 2026, Namazi released a series of songs with composer Arash Fathi and lyricist Ehsan Haeri. Labat Che Gooyad? appeared on 5 June. A separate piano version, featuring Fathi, followed on 26 September.161314
The songs carry distinct dedications and descriptions. Namazi dedicated Geryeh Nakon to those who gave their lives for Iran; its accompaniment includes Arian Gheitasi’s oboe and Milad Alami’s viola. She introduced Jadoo as a love song that looks beyond good and bad to the beauty of love.151617 Aseman Be Aseman, also featuring Fathi, was released on 1 November 2026.18
